I already talked about ARTE in the 3rd Buy European bulletin. For this 5th bulletin, we’re returning to them. First, because they are great. Second, because ARTE happens to be a video game producer whose excellent content is unfortunately often overlooked, despite having been active in this space for over 10 years now!
As before, Buying European is also about European culture, quality entertainment, and celebrating diversity.
Play European Games Today
- Wednesdays: Launched last month, this bridge between comic books and video games tastefully addresses difficult subjects such as sexual abuse and incest with a light-hearted narrative. Build a theme park and through it, discover the difficult life and traumas of Tim, the protagonist. “The difficulty isn’t talking. It’s being heard.”
- To Hell with the Ugly: An adaptation of the 1940s novel by Boris Vian, this game combines the Point & Click and Turn-Based Combat genres through the adventure of Rock Bailey, a young and quirky man who wakes up in a strange hospital after being kidnapped.
- Available on Steam in English, French, German and Spanish.
- Inua – A Story in Ice and Time: A game that is reminiscent of Lucas Pope’s hit Return of the Obra Dinn, Inua takes players to the Great Canadian North where three protagonists from different times are brought together to uncover a supernatural mystery surrounding the mysterious disappearance of a ship, changing history in the process.
- Available on Steam, GOG, Google Play, App Store and Nintendo Switch in English, French, Germany, Spanish and Portuguese.
- 30 Birds: Did you like Fez? Then 30 Birds is for you. In this adventure inspired by Persian art, the young detective Zig must save the goddess Simurgh in rotating environments within a strange, colourful world.
- Family Bash: A text-based adventure taking place during a troublesome family gathering, this game offers its version of what families are. Influence relationships between their members, talk, fight, and investigate your way through their secrets. We may love, despise, or ignore them, but they’re still family.
- Available on Google Play and App Store in English, French, German and Spanish.
I hope that you have a great time playing these European titles. And between play sessions, feel free to discover the rest of their catalogue here.
I’ll see you next week for another Buy European bulletin.
